The letter revealed that Code Red is "Coming to a store near you in May," signifying a planned release of May 2001. They were sent a box containing a "you won" letter, following a Code Red shirt, and a six-pack of bottles to be the one of the first to sample. In March 2001, Mountain Dew's website held an online racing game called " Mission: Code Red." After the top-scoring winners won the online racing game with high enough points, the winners acquired their free Code Red merchandise. Its tagline is " DEW with a Rush of Cherry Flavor." while in Oceania, its catchphrase is " DEW with a Rush of Berry Flavour." History I’m not sure what chemicals they put in it to pair well with the taco and I don’t think I care.Code Red is a Cherry flavor of Mountain Dew, and its name implies having a red look and a comparable tasting flavor and color to that of Cherry Fusion and Game Fuel (Charged Cherry Burst). Baja-Blast Zero paired perfectly with the Cheesy Gordita Crunch. Also, this may not be on their soda fountain forever so enjoy it while it’s here! I would recommend buying as much as you can because you will not be disappointed. A downside to note is that if you take very small sips, you can taste that “diet” flavor. The Taco Bell near me is about 20-minutes away and I have driven there multiple times just to get this soda. Even my friends that don’t like diet sodas, liked it. Therefore, I tried it a couple more times and convinced some friends to try it. I couldn’t tell that it was diet! I thought maybe I was just being biased because I had been hoping for this for a long time. I took the first sip expecting to have all of my hopes and dreams crushed BUT I was completely baffled when not only did it not crush my hopes and dreams, but it actually exceeded my expectations. I would like to clarify that it’s a 100% artificial lime pastry smell. (A Cheesy Gordita Crunch is probably the best thing on their menu and I highly recommend it if you go to Taco Bell.) Just like the original Baja-Blast, this one is also a sea foam green and smells like a lime pastry. I was lucky enough to get it when Taco Bell was having a Cheesy Gordita Crunch box deal. The downside to this is that it’s only sold at Taco Bell. Finally, I can have a diet Mountain Dew product that isn’t the original flavor. So when I found out that they had Mountain Dew Baja-Blast Zero, I was ecstatic. I’m usually limited to only drinking Diet Mountain Dew but let’s just say it’s not their best product. As a recovering fat kid, I cannot drink super sugary drinks all the time. Unfortunately, the issue with most Mountain Dew products is that they’re more sugar than water. That trend slowly turned into me trying any new soda that came out. Every few months, Mountain Dew would release a new flavor and I would always go try them. They’re actually the reason I started trying so many new sodas. I am a huge fan of Mountain Dew products. The Mountain Dew fandom website describes it as a “tropical-lime-flavor…which is chemically formulated to taste good with food.” It sounds a little more suspect than Taco Bell trying to pair the perfect flavored soda with their soft-shelled tacos, but I digress. I was curious as to what the actual flavor was, so of course I looked it up online and I was not disappointed with the answer. Now, if you’re lucky your local grocery store may carry Baja-Blast in a 12-pack! This unfortunately meant having to leave with an upset stomach due to having too many Chalupa Supremes. Up until last year the only way to get Baja-Blast was by going to Taco Bell. Ever since the Baja-Blast was introduced in the early 2000s, there has been a cult following behind it.
